The Gloomy King

Many years ago in a period commonly know as Next Friday Afternoon, there lived a King who was very Gloomy on Tuesday mornings because he was so Sad thinking about how Unhappy he had been on Monday and how completely Mournful he would be on Wednesday”  Walt Kelly

*Found this quote on the internet and couldn't find an ending anywhere.  So I decided to write one myself...

Many years ago in a period commonly known as Next Friday Afternoon, there lived a King who was very Gloomy on Tuesday mornings because he was so Sad thinking about how Unhappy he had been on Monday and how completely Mournful he would be on Wednesday.

Then Thursday came and he thought he might try on a Smile.  It felt rather Nice.  On Friday the Gloomy King found True Love.  "Oh Friday, what would I do without you"  he cried.
Friday said:  "If you want, we can meet again next week?"  The Gloomy King suddenly felt a burst of Happiness bubbling through him.  "I will live for Next Friday"  he thought to himself.

Saturday came and went without any tears.  The Gloomy King was feeling less and less Gloomy.  Sunday started out allright.  Then suddenly the King thought about how Unhappy Monday makes him.  How Gloomy he will feel yet again on Tuesday and how Mournful he would be on Wednesday.  He felt rather Blue.

In the end the Gloomy King died of a broken heart.  It was tragic and short.

It was life as we know it...

  1. That is wonderful! I hope you write more, perhaps about the abandoned Friday? :)

Your talent for the melancholy beauty of life is surprising and exciting...

  2. A small contribution, from the film Wings of Desire:

"When the child was a child, it walked with its arms swinging. It wanted the stream to be a river, the river a torrent, and this puddle to be the sea. When the child was a child, it didn't know it was a child. Everything was full of life, and all life was one."
