Psych-up Mix

Thought I would share my psych-up mix that my bridesmaid asked me to compile for whatever reason (I'm guessing P-A-R-T-Y)

• Supermassive Black Hole -  Muse  (not that I'm saying there is going to be strippers, but this is the ultimate stripper/pole-dancing song)
• Where's Your Head At  -  Basement Jaxx  (reminds me of my student party life)
• Yobayo  -  Unknown Artist  (this is to satisfy the black lady in me  - although my good friend Mo told me this has a more Pretoria than Garankuwa vibe, which is apparently not a good thing)
• I Touch Myself  -  Divinyls  ("Sexy Girl" song)
• Cherry Bomb  -  The Runaways  (Not such a famous party/psych-up song, but after I watched the movie about Joan Jett and The Runaways, I was hooked on the song)
• Pop Goes The World  - Men Without Hats  (this song is just so easy to sing-a-long to:  come on, I know you want to  -"la la la la la la")
• I Got A Feeling  -  Black Eyed Peas  (...that tonight's gonna be a good night...)
• Red Red Wine  -  Neil Diamond  (slightly different than the more well-known UB40 version, this is for when we have lots of red red wine start contemplating life)
• One Way Or Another  -  Blondie  (guess I just had to have a Blondie song)
• The Passenger  -  Iggy Pop  (well, it's the sock song, from the add that shows where all the missing socks go  - to the beach for a sock party offcourse.  I love the feeling off the song...We are all just passengers, riding along the journey of life...)
• Stereolove  -  Edward Mayer  (this songs just makes me want to dance)
• Girls Just Want To Have Fun  -  Cindy Lauper  (ultimate girl's night song)
• Love Is Only A Feeling  -  The Darkness  (what a wonderful feeling and an awesome song)
• Live Your Life  -  Rihanna  (I need a bit of Rihanna for a great night)
• The Middle  -  Jimmy Eat World  (my ultimate jumpupanddowntothemusic song)
• I Know You Want Me  -  Pitbul  (such a cheeky and fun song)

A wide variety of OT activities

OT:  Mrs R, do you want to come to OT for some baking?
Mrs R:  (looking very puzzled)  Ballet?  I don't think I will be able to cope with that kind of dancing..
OT:  No, we going to do baking.  (louder tone of voice)
Mrs R:  You cannot seriously picutre me on a bike?
OT:  We are going to bake cookies Mrs R (tone of voice becoming slightly louder than necessary now)
Mrs R:  Allright, if you insist, but I'm not kissing anyone again.

*She ended up eating the cookie dough raw and managed to participate in the group without any kisses, but had fun nonetheless.

Favorite Things for Old Things

I have been making CD's with old music for my special people and offcourse Favorite Things from The Sound of Music featured.  One of my all time favourite songs:  I mean she sings about "Blue Satin Sashes" and "Crisp Apple Struddle"; who wouldn't like the song? 

This made me think of Julie Andrews, who I absolutely adore. (not as much as Audrey Hepburn, but she will feature in a blog post later).  She was so beautiful and pure in Sound of Music and that voice... 

I could watch that movie over and over when I was younger and anytime you having a DVD night and the Sound of Music features...I'm there.  (I can unfortunately not say my fiancee agrees with this, but he'll get around I'm sure) 

Mary Poppins are offcourse just as beautiful and another one of my favourites...(At least this one my dearest does agree with).  For a while after I've watched Mary Poppins changing the world with her umbrella, I was okay with drinking my medicine and my new favourite word was "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious"

I also think Julie Andrews is one of the most beautiful older ladies I have ever seen.  So graceful and poise and everything I want to be when I grow up... I cried and clapped with the audience when she got a standing ovation at the 2003 Academy Awards.
